Is There Anything I Can Do for Gynecomastia?

Men with gynecomastia often feel embarrassed about the condition, so they try to improve the appearance of their chest with diet and exercise.  But there is usually no improvement since the problem is caused by excess breast tissue.  So, they often ask the question – Is there anything I can do for gynecomastia?

What Is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia refers to enlarged breast tissue in males, a condition which makes the breasts look more feminine.  Gynecomastia often has its onset during adolescence due to hormonal changes that occur at that time.  The condition may affect one or both breasts.

Is There Anything I Can Do for Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia surgery or male breast reduction surgery is the most effective treatment for enlarged breasts.

Male breast reduction surgery involves removing the excess glandular tissue that causes the breast abnormality, in order to sculpt and contour the chest.

Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia surgery can be performed under general or local anesthesia.  During surgery, small incisions are made around the areola, and the unwanted breast tissue is excised.

Male breast reduction surgery can also be performed using the external ultrasonic liposculpture (EUAL) technique.  During gynecomastia surgery with EUAL, an incision is made near the breast through which lipo-surgical instruments are inserted, and used to remove excess breast tissue and fat.

Gynecomastia surgery using EUAL is a minimally invasive approach that contours the chest and gives it a more masculine appearance.

Are You A Good Candidate For Gynecomastia?

If other medical treatments have not been able to correct your enlarged breasts, you may be a suitable candidate for gynecomastia surgery.  Candidates for surgery should also be healthy and not have any underlying medical conditions that could affect recovery.

If you feel frustrated by gynecomastia and would like to have it addressed, gynecomastia surgery may be the right option for you.
