What is Recovery Like for a Nose Job?

Would you like to get your nose fixed but you’re worried about the recovery. That’s understandable. Many people considering rhinoplasty are concerned about the recovery process because it’s difficult to determine what the nose will look like when it’s finished healing. So what is the recovery like for a nose job, and how long does it take.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is done to reshape the nose and restore balance to the facial features. The technique used to perform surgery will depend on the specific needs of the patient.

What is Recovery Like for a Nose Job?

Rhinoplasty takes 2-3 hours, and patients are usually able to go home the same day. There is generally some swelling after surgery that may extend to the area around the eyes and forehead, as well as the lips. Ice packs can be used to help ease the swelling. There is also some bruising and pain after surgery, and most patients experience congestion for a couple weeks.

A splint is usually put on the nose to help maintain the new shape, and is taken off within 7-10 days. The nose will still be swollen, as it typically takes several months for the swelling to fully resolve.

How long does it take to heal after rhinoplasty?

The length of the recovery period after rhinoplasty depends on the extent of the surgery, but the average recovery time is 2-3 weeks. Doctors generally advise patients to take 1-2 weeks off work.

When will I see results after rhinoplasty?

About 80% of the results can be seen within a month of rhinoplasty, but full results can take up to 12 months.
