If you would like to get rid of unwanted fat and shape specific areas of your body, then body contouring can give you the look that you’ve always wanted. How can you do it? Body contouring can be achieved with liposuction. Liposuction is a procedure that sculpts the body, to create a smoother and better proportioned shape.
About the Procedure
Liposuction can be done using traditional surgical methods, or advanced laser technology. In the traditional lipo procedure, fatty tissue is removed by a using cannula or small tube attached to a suction device.
The cannula is inserted via a small incision that is made in the fold of the skin. The surgeon may also inject a tumescent solution before the start of the procedure. This helps to reduce discomfort, and enable fat removal.
Non-invasive lipo can be performed using any number of devices; these include lasers, as well as tools powered by ultrasound technology.
Body contouring with liposuction (click here for more info) is usually done as an outpatient procedure at the doctor’s office, under general anesthesia. However, in cases where there is a large volume of fat being removed, anovernight hospital stay is required.
Recovery after Liposuction
Patients will experience some discomfort after the procedure. However, the compression garment that must be worn for 2 weeks after surgery will help to speed up healing. Where necessary, a drain may be inserted to help remove the blood and water that may accumulate in the weeks following surgery. It can take up to 4 months to see the final results of liposuction.
Where can liposuction be used to treat?
Liposuction can be used to smooth and contour the face and body. It is commonly used on the neck, thighs, buttocks, legs, and hips.
