Are you ready to do something about the saggy skin around your eyes, but you’re not sure if you should get an eyelid lift or a brow lift. It’s best to consider the facts about both procedures, before making a decision.
What is an eyelid lift?
An eyelid lift or blepharoplastyis done to correct saggy upper eyelids, and eliminate bags below the eyes, so that the eyes look alert and more youthful. The incisions for surgery are made in the natural curves of the eyes, and are not visible when healed. The surgeon also trims away the excess skin, and removes or shifts the excess fat.
What is a brow lift?
A brow lift or forehead lift is an operation that’s done to elevate droopy brows. It is an outpatient procedure that is performed under general anesthesia. During surgery the underlying muscle and tissue is adjusted, and excess skin and fat removed.
Should you get an eyelid lift or a brow lift?
Whether you need to get an eyelid lift or a brow lift, will depend on what’s causing your eyes to look tired and droopy.
If you have excess skin in the upper eyelids, but your eyebrows are not droopy, an eyelid lift may be what you need to rejuvenate the eyes. However, if your eyebrows have shifted downward, a brow lift may be recommended. A brow lift will also reduce horizontal wrinkles across the forehead, and improve the appearance of frown lines.
