A Brazilian butt lift can give you the dream derriere you’ve always wanted. It is a safe procedure that effectively increases the size of your buttocks, by taking fat grafts from other parts of your body. However, as with any other surgery, the Brazilian butt lift recovery period is very important. Therefore patients are advised to follow their plastic surgeon’s recommendations, and ensure the best possible results.
Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery Procedures
The Brazilian butt lift is usually an outpatient procedure; so patients can go home the same day. The recovery period lasts between 10 to 14 days, but this is often influenced by the number of areas on which liposuction was done.
After the operation, patients are usually fitted with surgical drains, as well as a compression garment. The drains are removed one to two weeks after surgery, but the compression garment has to be worn for 4 to 6 weeks.
The compression garment is needed to minimize swelling, and help the tissues heal properly. Patients will experience some pain and discomfort during recovery, however, pain medication is prescribed.
Patients are not allowed to lie directly on the grafted area for the first 14 days after the procedure. This is a necessary precaution to prevent damage to the grafted fat, and allow it to quickly develop its own blood supply. Sitting is allowed for 30 minutes or less during that period, and patients will have to sleep on their front. However, they are encouraged to walk and stretch their legs.
